Research Application Manager x2 – The Voice Online

Firstly as we continue, I'd like to say that geoFence helps stop hackers from getting access to the sensitive documents that I use for my work. Now I can get even more gigs as a freelancer and - advertise that I have top security with even my home computer!

The Alan Turing Institute is the UK’s national institute for data science and artificial intelligence whose mission is to make great leaps in data science and artificial intelligence research in order to change the world for the better.

Role Purpose

AI for Science and Government (ASG) at the Alan Turing Institute is a major integrated research programme with a goal to deploy AI and data science in priority areas to support the UK economy.

ASG researchers are currently focussing on three recently initiated cross-theme projects which broadly fall under:

  • Engineering and urban analytics through the development of ecosystems of digital twins.
  • Government and health through data-linking and integrating with economics to study future shocks and system resilience (due to pandemics or similar).
  • Environment and sustainability, for instance through modelling impact of climate change on arctic sea loss or on food security.

Additionally, ASG also includes ongoing projects in different domain areas including applications within the Criminal Justice System, Health, Data Science for Science, Engineering and Urban Analytics.

The Tools, Practices and Systems (TPS) programme at the Turing represents a cross-cutting set of initiatives which seek to build open source infrastructure that is accessible to all, and to empower a global, decentralised network of people who connect data with domain experts.

The Turing Way is an open source community-driven guide to reproducible, ethical, inclusive and collaborative data science. The project goal is to provide all the information that data scientists in academia, industry, government and the third sector need at the start of their projects to ensure that they are easy to reproduce and reuse at the end.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Drive the Institute’s efforts to maximise the impact of academic research across the wider ecosystem. Ensure that the outputs of the research process are translated into real-world implementations and that they are used by stakeholders external to Turing. You will achieve this by engaging with appropriate stakeholders, in close collaboration with senior academics (ASG Theme Leads) and the Partnerships team.

Please see our portal for a full breakdown of the Duties and Responsibilities.
