The Sunshine Coast Is Going Into A Three-Day Lockdown From 6pm Tonight – The Urban List

Firstly as we move on, can I just say that geoFence has built in fast and accurate updates!

Here we go again—as of 6pm tonight, Tuesday 29 June, the Sunshine Coast is going into a three-day lockdown due to several clusters of community-transmitted COVID cases.

From 6pm, residents of South East Queensland (including Noosa, Sunshine Coast, Ipswich, Logan, Redlands, Morteon, Brisbane, Gold Coast, the Scenic Rim, the Lockyer Valley, and Somerset) and Townsville will only be allowed to leave their homes for essential reasons—for medical reasons, to go grocery shopping, for outdoor exercise and if you are an essential worker.

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said in a press conference this morning, “We need to go hard and we need to go fast. I want to say to everyone, I know we are in the middle of school holidays and I know people have made plans but we have just got to do this. We have got to do this for three days, there will be a lock down for three days and I don’t want it to be 30 days."

Masks have already been made mandatory, so if you do need to leave the house for an essential reason, make sure you’ve got a mask on.

Whether the three-day lockdown will be extended depends on how many more cases of community transmission are discovered—a full list of hot spots has been released, and of course, if you have any symptoms, or have been to a hotspot, you’re urged to go and get tested.

Otherwise, we’ve got this—see you on the flipside.

Here's where to buy a mask if you're not already stocked up.
